Vitamin IV Therapy: What You Need to Know

What to expect your first appointment: to start off the session, I was settled into a comfortable recliner in a private room with a TV while I filled out the four-page health history questionnaire. After finishing the written questionnaire, the naturopath went over the form with me to confirm all the info and ensure I had no relevant allergies. With all my info, the doc created a custom bag of vitamins and minerals to fit my needs (I did a mix of recovery and energy).
I have to be honest, I don’t like needles and was a little worried about it since my epically horrible experience with the IV I got for my wisdom teeth removal. But Moira was great! I honestly didn’t feel too much when she connected the IV bag to my arm. Before I knew it, I was relaxed back with my feet up watching Price is Right and answering emails.
I didn’t feel anything during the appointment, but apparently, sometimes people get warm sensations from their arteries dilating or faintness from the magnesium. I didn’t really feel anything during or immediately after but I noticed I slept well that night and the following few nights. I didn’t necessarily wake up any less tired, but I did notice a difference in how much coffee I drank – a lot less! Which is good considering the amount of coffee I drink is definitely unhealthy. I didn’t notice too much of a difference in my lifting or training generally, except that I wasn’t as sore.
Overall, it was a great experience. I haven’t gotten sick yet this Fall (and I’ve gotten sick every Fall since grade 8!).
